Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre

The Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre taps into the Great Artesian Basin, one of the world's largest underground freshwater reservoirs, drawing naturally heated sulfate-rich water to the surface of northern New South Wales without any artificial pumping or heating. The waters, which flow at a consistent warm temperature year-round, carry a wealth of dissolved minerals built up over thousands of years of deep filtration through Jurassic and Cretaceous sandstone formations. Aboriginal Gomeroi people have long had a relationship with Moree's artesian waters, and the town became internationally known in the 20th century as a spa destination, attracting visitors from across Australia and beyond.
