Tak Jur is a sulfurous spring located in the Zangilan area, in southern Azerbaijan. The water, warm at around 38°C, emerges in the open air and is suited to wild bathing amid a mountainous landscape.
Insider tip — This spring — named 'Taq jur' (hot water) in Armenian script — sits in the Zangilan area of southern Azerbaijan near the Armenian border, where the Lesser Caucasus volcanic belt drives warm sulfurous water to the surface. The geologically complex zone between the Karabakh uplands and the Araxes River valley is scattered with such natural springs, long known to local communities on both sides of the border. Access to this remote area has historically been restricted but is gradually opening to visitors.
