Aguas Termales de Viscachani, located near Patacamaya on the Bolivian altiplano between La Paz and Oruro, are oligomineral hot springs that have long served as a waypoint for travellers on the historic road connecting Bolivia's two most important cities. The springs emerge from the flat altiplano at an altitude of approximately 3,800 metres, their gently mineralised warm waters offering welcome relief from the cold, thin air of the high plateau. Viscachani's thermal waters are used locally for bathing and have traditionally been valued for their relaxing and mildly therapeutic properties, making them a practical and culturally embedded resource in this Aymara highland landscape.
