Mineralbad Zurzach — Thermalbad

Mineralbad Zurzach (Thermalbad Zurzach) is a thermal spa complex in the town of Bad Zurzach in the canton of Aargau, on the left bank of the Rhine at the Swiss-German border, where chloride- and bicarbonate-rich thermal waters from the Mesozoic sedimentary formations beneath the Upper Rhine valley are used in comprehensive balneotherapy for musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and rheumatological conditions. Bad Zurzach preserves the Romanesque minster of St. Verena — an 11th-century cathedral whose crypt contains the relics of Saint Verena, one of the few authenticated female saints in the early Swiss church — whose 1,700-year pilgrimage tradition has attracted the faithful to the springs of Zurzach since the Roman period. The confluence of Roman spring exploitation, medieval Marian pilgrimage, and modern thermal balneotherapy at the same site on the Rhine makes Bad Zurzach one of the most continuous and multi-layered thermal sacred spring destinations in Switzerland.
