Termas del Flaco is a remote natural hot spring resort in the high Andes of the Libertador O'Higgins region of central Chile, accessible only seasonally by a dramatic mountain road that climbs into the Tinquilco valley to reach a cluster of sulphurous springs at around 2,100 metres elevation. The springs, at the foot of the spectacular Andean ridge forming the border with Argentina near Paso el Portillo, offer a genuine high-altitude Andean thermal experience with volcano and glacier views in a landscape of extraordinary mountain grandeur. The winter snowfall and spring snowmelt that make the road periodically impassable add to the adventurous character of reaching Termas del Flaco, one of the more challenging and rewarding hot spring destinations in the South American Andes.
