Jurasi Springs

Jurasi Springs in Chile's Arica y Parinacota region are bicarbonate thermal springs emerging on the high Andean altiplano near the Peruvian border, in a landscape of vast semi-arid plains, salt flats, and volcanoes that forms part of the Lauca National Park biosphere. The springs have been used since pre-Columbian times by the Aymara people, who developed a sophisticated understanding of the altiplano's geothermal resources within their cosmology and agricultural practices. Jurasi's remote high-altitude setting, at approximately 4,500 metres above sea level, makes access a genuine adventure, but the warm bicarbonate pools surrounded by an Andean wilderness landscape of extraordinary grandeur justify the journey for dedicated thermal explorers.
