Inner Mongolia Aletai Hot Spring in Arxan draws bicarbonate-rich mineral water from the volcanic geothermal zone of the Greater Khingan Range in far northeastern Inner Mongolia — a subalpine landscape of volcanic crater lakes, pine and larch taiga forest, and the extraordinary natural Arxan geothermal field, one of the most diverse and scientifically significant volcanic hot spring clusters in all of China.
