Bo Namphu Ron Pha Bong — 'Pha Bong Hot Spring Well' — is a naturally sulphurous thermal spring in the Pha Bong area of Mae Hong Son province in northwestern Thailand, where geothermal water emerges in a remote mountain landscape of extraordinary natural beauty close to the Myanmar border. Mae Hong Son province, known as the 'City of Three Mists,' is one of Thailand's most isolated and scenically spectacular regions, its misty mountains and diverse ethnic minority villages adding a richly cultural dimension to the natural hot spring experience. The temperature is vigorous enough to hard-boil eggs in the source pool, a popular local pastime. Visit in the cool season (November through February) for the most enjoyable soaking conditions.
