Jin Huang Wenquan is located in Maolin, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, a mountainous area in the island's south. Sulfurous water, around 38°C, feeds an open-air bathing spot.
Insider tip — Hidden in the rugged Maolin Recreation Area of southern Taiwan, these springs emerge from deeply eroded river gorges in the Central Mountain Range foothills. The sulfurous water reflects volcanic-hydrothermal influence from south Taiwan's fault systems, and the surrounding purple butterfly valley forest adds extraordinary natural beauty. The Rukai indigenous people have long inhabited this valley, and the springs hold significance in local tradition. Winter visits coincide with the spectacular annual purple crow butterfly migration through the valley.
