Bùxiāo wán Wēnquán

Bùxiāo Wán Wēnquán — 'Immortality Hot Spring' — is a naturally sulphurous geothermal spring in China, its extraordinary name expressing the ancient Chinese belief that certain mineral springs, properly used, could contribute to longevity and even immortality — a belief deeply embedded in Daoist alchemical philosophy, where the search for immortality through mineral substances and natural spring waters was among the central preoccupations of classical Chinese science and spirituality.
