Luó Jī Jiǔ Shí Jiǔ Lǐ Wēnquán — 'Luoji Ninety-Nine Li Hot Spring' — is a naturally sulphurous geothermal spring in the Luoji Mountain area of Sichuan Province, China, associated with a remarkably long stretch of thermal activity extending across ninety-nine li (approximately 50 kilometres) of the mountain. Luoji Mountain is a nature reserve of extraordinary biodiversity and geological interest in the Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture of southern Sichuan, home to both rich ethnic minority cultures and spectacular natural landscapes. The spring provides warm, sulphurous mineral water in one of Sichuan's most biodiverse and culturally rich highland environments.
Insider tip — Luo Ji Jiu Shi Jiu Li sits at the volcanic foot of the Luoji Mountains in Liangshan Prefecture, one of Sichuan's most seismically active highland zones. The sulfurous spring water is hot and mineral-dense, fed by geothermal channels running through ancient volcanic basalt. The surrounding Luoji Mountain Nature Reserve shelters subtropical forest and rare Yi ethnic minority communities. Visiting in early autumn offers dry weather, clear volcanic peak views, and comfortable soaking temperatures in outdoor natural pools.
