Terme Jeseník

Jeseník is a spa town in the Olomouc Region of northern Moravia in the Czech Republic, world-famous as the birthplace of Vincenz Priessnitz, the 19th-century Silesian farmer who pioneered the Priessnitz hydrotherapy method, which became the most influential naturopathic water tradition of the 19th century, attracting over 7,000 visitors from across Europe by 1840. The bicarbonate spring waters and cold-water Priessnitz methods practiced in Jeseník are used in comprehensive balneotherapy and hydrotherapy programs that remain faithful to the original Priessnitz principles, in facilities built on the slopes where the self-taught pioneer created his first water establishment. The Jeseniky mountains surrounding the town, with their spruce forests, peat bogs, and sub-alpine meadows, provide the essential cold-air and cold-water environment that Priessnitz identified as the natural foundation for his system.
