Luhačovice

Luhačovice, located in the Zlín Region of Moravia, Czech Republic, is the country's most important non-Bohemian spa town and the largest mineral water spa in Moravia, whose bicarbonate and sodium-rich naturally carbonated springs have been exploited since the seventeenth century and developed into an elegant spa resort in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The town's distinctive architectural heritage, shaped primarily by the Art Nouveau designs of Dušan Jurkovič — who created a uniquely Moravian folk-Art Nouveau spa town aesthetic — gives Luhačovice an architectural character entirely unlike the classical Central European spa towns of western Bohemia. The naturally carbonated bicarbonate waters are consumed as drinking cures at the town's celebrated colonnades, within a long thermal tradition.
