Therme Bad Rothenfelde is a saline inhalation and bathing resort in the Osnabrück district of Lower Saxony, home to the most extensive surviving system of historic Gradierwerke in Germany, the dramatic blackthorn-brushwood inhalation towers where brine solution trickles over bundles of blackthorn branches to create a fine aerosol that transforms the surrounding park into an open-air natural inhalation space renowned since the 18th century. The three great saline towers of Bad Rothenfelde, stretching hundreds of meters across the spa park and standing over ten meters tall, are among the most remarkable surviving examples of pre-industrial salt processing technology in Central Europe and are protected as industrial heritage monuments of national significance. The sodium-chloride spring waters here combine indoor pool bathing with the extraordinary outdoor inhalation experience of the Gradierwerke, creating a uniquely atmospheric environment that draws visitors within a long thermal tradition in a setting of remarkable historical authenticity.
