In the Ricote Valley, on the banks of the Segura River, Balneario de Archena ranks among Spain's oldest thermal establishments: its waters were already used by Iberian settlers as early as the 5th century BC. From the Middle Ages until the 19th century, the site belonged to the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem. In 1858 and 1868, the Hotel León and Hotel Termas were built respectively.
