Balneario de Caldas Oviedo

Balneario de Caldas Oviedo is located in Caldas de Oviedo in Asturias, northern Spain — a green, Atlantic coastal region of dramatic mountains, ancient oak forests, and pre-Romanesque churches that is often called 'natural paradise' and that preserved the pre-Islamic Christian kingdom of Asturias, the cradle from which the Reconquista of Spain began in the 8th century. The sulphurous thermal waters of Caldas rise through the ancient geological structures of the Cantabrian Mountains and have been enjoyed since Roman times within a long thermal tradition maintained across centuries of Asturian community life. The balneario sits within a landscape of extraordinary natural beauty in the Asturian interior, surrounded by apple orchards producing the famous natural sidra (cider) emblematic of Asturian culture, and close to the Pre-Romanesque temples of the Asturian Monarchy listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
