Tampere is Finland's second-largest city, a post-industrial lakeside city in the Pirkanmaa region built on a narrow 3-kilometre isthmus between the lakes Nasijarvi and Pyhajarvi, where the Tammerkoski rapids that once powered the 19th-century textile mills are now the symbolic heart of a modern cultural and wellness city.
