On the seafront of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, the Thalazur establishment occupies the historic site of the Hélianthal, a complex built in July 1989 on what was once the town's mini-golf course. Its Art Deco facade has been entirely reimagined by architect Jean-Philippe Nuel's studio, drawing on the clean lines of 1930s ocean-liner architecture while honouring Basque identity through emblematic red and blue tones and local craftsmanship.
The centre is built around thalassotherapy, a discipline born in 19th-century France at Boulogne-sur-Mer, which uses seawater heated to 33°C along with marine mud and algae. Around eighty treatments are on offer, paired with direct beach access facing the Atlantic Ocean, within a setting reimagined after a renovation carried out between 2019 and 2021.
