Cabourg is a Victorian seaside resort in the Calvados department of Normandy, designed in 1860 as a perfect semicircle of grand avenues radiating from the famous Grand Hotel, where Marcel Proust spent many summers and immortalized the town as Balbec in his great novel In Search of Lost Time.
