Berthemont-les-Bains in the Vésubie valley of the Alpes-Maritimes, fifty-five kilometres north of Nice in the Mercantour National Park, draws from oligomineral sulphurous springs at 780 metres elevation in one of the most spectacular and remote thermal stations in France, accessible by a narrow mountain road through the dramatic gorges of the Vésubie River in a landscape of Alpine meadows, marmot colonies, and ibex herds protected within the Mercantour National Park.
