The Balneario de Aguas Minerales Orosi is set in the renowned Orosí Valley, Cartago Province, Costa Rica, some 35 kilometres east of San José. The Orosí Valley is frequently cited as one of the most beautiful in Central America: ringed by coffee-covered hills and cloud forest ridges, it is also home to one of the oldest colonial churches still in use in the Americas. The mineral springs emerge quietly at the valley floor, adding a geothermal dimension to an already remarkable landscape.
The mineral thermal water, at a neutral pH of 7.3, fills open-air pools that are a weekend staple for Costa Rican families from the Greater San José area. The balneario has a welcoming, unpretentious atmosphere — less resort than community pool with geothermal benefits. The surrounding valley scenery, with its layered greens of coffee plantations and primary forest, makes it one of the most picturesque bathing settings in the country.
