Byron Hot Springs is a hot spring system consisting of 57 spring sources, in California. It was developed into a historic resort and retreat. During its heyday in the early 1900s the resort attracted movie stars and well-known athletes. It is now abandoned.
Insider tip — Byron Hot Springs Haunted Hotel is an abandoned historic site in Byron (Contra Costa County, CA). The thermal hotel, opened in 1900, was one of California's most elegant, frequented by Teddy Roosevelt and Jack London. During World War II it was turned into an interrogation camp for Japanese prisoners. Burned and abandoned, it is now reputed to be haunted. Not open to the public.
