Opened in October 2022 after several years in development, this Whitby spa village belongs to the same group as the pioneering Nordik Spa-Nature in Chelsea, Quebec, founded in 2005, and the Winnipeg location that opened in 2015 as the first Nordic spa in the Canadian Prairies. It's the closest destination of its kind to Toronto, blending Nordic and Middle Eastern bathing traditions.

The wood-and-stone architecture houses six saunas, each with its own style and scent, including a wood-fired Finnish sauna and a Himalayan salt sauna, alongside two steam rooms scented with eucalyptus or citrus oils. Outdoor pools, a hammock forest and relaxation pavilions round out a circuit built to alternate heat, cold and rest through the seasons.

Insider tip — Thermea Spa Village Whitby brings the Nordic bathing ritual to the shores of Lake Ontario east of Toronto. The facility features alternating hot pools, cold plunges, and steam rooms set amid landscaped gardens. Silent zones throughout the grounds ensure a meditative atmosphere year-round. Winter visits are especially popular when snow-dusted grounds frame the steaming thermal pools.
