Insider tip — Historic thermal baths in Alì Terme on Sicily's Ionian coast, 25 km from Taormina. Sulfurous, salt-bromine-iodine waters flowing at 40–46°C, considered the richest in iodine in Sicily by Sicilian chemist Arrosto (1810). The Granata family exploited these springs from the 16th century; sold in 1895 to the Marchesa di Cassibile. NOTE: The facility ceased operations in 2013 and is currently closed and up for sale.
