Minahasa Hot Springs

Minahasa Hot Springs are located near Tomohon, a cool highland city in the Minahasa Plateau of North Sulawesi, a region famous for its unique Christian Minahasa culture, its spectacular flower cultivation, and the annual Tomohon International Flower Festival that transforms the city into a riot of tropical blooms rivaling the great flower festivals of the Netherlands. The area is also noted for the enigmatic Waruga — ancient stone sarcophagi used by the Minahasa people to bury their dead in a seated fetal position, believed to prepare the soul for rebirth, hundreds of which are preserved in open-air sites throughout the region.
