Khir Ganga is a high-altitude hot spring in the Parvati Valley of Himachal Pradesh, reached after an 11 km trek through dense forest from Kasol at 3,050 meters elevation in a sacred landscape associated with the legend of Lord Shiva and Kartikeya's games in the Himalayan wilderness. The calcium-rich natural pool at the top of the trail is one of India's most iconic trekker-reward hot springs, where bathing in a stone basin with panoramic views of snow-covered Himalayan ridges has become a rite of passage for backpackers on the Kasol-Kheerganga circuit. The Parvati Valley's association with Malana village — keeper of an ancient proto-democratic tradition pre-dating Greek democracy — adds anthropological depth to one of Himachal's most spectacular trek-and-soak destinations.
