Geno Hot Springs near Bandar Abbas in Iran's Hormozgan Province are chloride-rich thermal springs in the Geno Protected Area, a mountain landscape 45 kilometres north of the port city that commands the strategic Strait of Hormuz through which one-fifth of the world's oil supply passes. The Geno Protected Area is one of Iran's most significant biodiversity reserves, sheltering Persian leopards, wild goats, and numerous endemic reptile species in a rugged limestone mountain landscape where the hot springs emerge from deep fault lines.
