Terme di San Saturnino

Terme di San Saturnino is a thermal spa complex near Sardara in the Medio Campidano province of Sardinia, built on and around a Nuragic sacred spring — the largest and most complete Nuragic well-temple in Sardinia — where the ancient Bronze Age civilization of the island venerated water as a sacred force as early as 800 BC. The bicarbonate spring waters, emerging at 38 degrees Celsius, have been in continuous use from the Nuragic period through the Roman era to the present thermal establishment, creating one of the longest uninterrupted bathing traditions in Italy. The bronze ex-voto figurines of people and warriors found in the sacred spring pool, now in the Cagliari archaeological museum, document 3,000 years of pilgrimage to these waters, making San Saturnino one of the most archaeologically documented springs in the Mediterranean world.
