Totsukawa Onsen is a remote thermal retreat in the village of Totsukawa in the mountainous southern part of Nara Prefecture, one of Japan's largest and least densely populated villages, where the Totsukawa River carves through pristine forest gorges and siliceous hot spring waters emerge from the deep granitic geology of the Kii Peninsula.
