Nanadaru Onsen

Nanadaru Onsen is a hot spring resort in the Kawazu town area of the southern Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture, near the spectacular Nanadaru Waterfall cascade — a series of seven waterfalls on the Kawazu River through a volcanic gorge — where siliceous thermal waters from the Izu volcanic system provide bathing in an extraordinary natural setting of subtropical forest, black basalt canyon walls, and cascading freshwater falls. Kawazu is also famous for the Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival, one of Japan's longest cherry blossom seasons (late January to early March) due to the Kawazu sakura variety's exceptional early blooming schedule, transforming the Kawazu River valley into a tunnel of pink blossoms above the clear mountain stream.
