Yubetsu Onsen is situated in Yubetsu, a coastal town in the Okhotsk Subprefecture of northern Hokkaido facing the Sea of Okhotsk, where the surrounding Sarobetsu Wetlands — part of Rishiri-Rebun-Sarobetsu National Park — provide critical habitat for migrating whooper swans, white-tailed eagles, and thousands of wading birds during the spring and autumn migration seasons.
