Esashi Onsen Iwate

Esashi Onsen Iwate is located in the Esashi district of Oshu City in southern Iwate Prefecture, an area known for the Fujiwara no Sato historical theme park, which recreates the atmosphere and architecture of the 12th-century Heian period when the Northern Fujiwara clan ruled their Buddhist Pure Land civilization from nearby Hiraizumi — making this region a center for historical drama production in Japan, as the park's authentic period architecture has served as a filming location for numerous NHK historical dramas.
