Kasuya Onsen

Kasuya Onsen is located in Kasuya, a suburban town in the southeastern corner of Fukuoka Prefecture between Fukuoka City and the scenic Genkai Quasi-National Park coastline, positioned within the metropolitan commuter zone of one of Japan's most economically dynamic cities while maintaining the character of a residential community rooted in agriculture and local commerce. The town sits close to Dazaifu, one of the most historically significant sites in northern Kyushu — the former seat of the Dazaifu government that administered Kyushu and Japan's diplomatic relations with China and Korea during the Nara and Heian periods, and home to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, one of Japan's most important shrines dedicated to the scholar-deity Sugawara no Michizane. The onsen at Kasuya draw on silica-rich geothermal waters from the volcanic geology of the northern Kyushu region, providing mineral bathing in a community that enjoys the proximity of Fukuoka's urban energy while maintaining the quieter rhythms of a Fukuoka suburban town.
