Ebino Onsen Miyazaki is a mountain hot spring in Ebino City on the Ebino Kogen volcanic plateau in southwestern Miyazaki Prefecture, set within the Kirishima-Kinkowan National Park where the Kirishima range of 23 volcanic peaks and 26 craters creates a dramatic high-altitude landscape of steaming vents, crater lakes, and subalpine grasslands that represents one of Kyushu's most scenically spectacular and geologically active highland environments. The Ebino Kogen plateau sits at 1,200 meters elevation with views over the surrounding volcanic cones including Karakuni-dake, the highest peak in the Kirishima range, and the mirror-clear crater lake of Fudo-ike, and the plateau's pristine wetlands and heather meadows provide exceptional birdwatching and hiking in a protected highland landscape of volcanic grandeur. The sulfurous thermal spring waters emerging from the Ebino volcanic field at around 47 degrees Celsius reflect the powerful geothermal activity of the Kirishima volcanic system and offer warming bathing in a high-altitude setting where the sulfurous mist rising from the springs mingles with the crisp mountain air of one of Kyushu's finest natural highland landscapes.
