Irozaki Onsen Izu

Irozaki Onsen Izu is located near the Irozaki Cape at the southernmost tip of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture, at the point where the peninsula's volcanic spine meets the Pacific Ocean in a landscape of dramatic sea cliffs, subtropical vegetation, and some of the warmest temperatures in mainland Japan — a microclimate that allows wild daffodils to bloom in January and aloe vera to grow freely in the rocky coastal gardens. The chloride-rich coastal hot spring waters draw from the intense geothermal activity of the Izu volcanic zone, whose proximity to the submarine Izu-Ogasawara volcanic arc generates prolific hot spring resources throughout the peninsula, and are valued for their warming and circulation-stimulating saline mineral properties. Irozaki's subtropical location — where palm trees and daffodil gardens surround the lighthouse at Japan's southernmost easily accessible point — and its panoramic views of the Pacific horizon and the volcanic Izu Islands chain makes it the most tropically atmospheric hot spring destination on the Japanese mainland.
