Kochkor Hot Springs is a natural thermal site near the town of Kochkor in the Naryn Region of central Kyrgyzstan, situated on the high plateau (about 1,800 metres) that serves as the gateway to the Song-Kul alpine lake and the interior mountain ranges of the Tian Shan. The bicarbonate springs provide warm mineral bathing in a landscape of vast rolling grasslands, yurt camps, and the nomadic horse-herding culture that characterises this part of Kyrgyzstan, where the Soviet-era collective farm system has given way to a revival of traditional Kyrgyz pastoralism. Combining hot spring bathing with stays in traditional yurts and participation in the living nomadic culture of the Kochkor plateau offers a deeply immersive experience of Kyrgyz highland life.
