Busan Dongnae Oncheon Hurshimchung

Dongnae Oncheon is one of Korea's oldest and most historically significant hot spring districts, its calcic-sulfated waters documented since the Silla Kingdom era when royal courts bathed in the Dongnae valley of what is now Busan metropolitan city — Korea's second largest urban center and primary southern port. Hurshimchung is one of the largest and most architecturally elaborate jjimjilbang bath complexes in Korea, featuring multiple thermal pools, saunas, cold pools, and steam rooms in the grand tradition of Korean communal bathing culture sustained in this valley for over a thousand years. The Dongnae springs historically drew Japanese residents during the colonial period due to their proximity to Busan's international port — creating a thermal district where Korean and Japanese bathing traditions have long intersected in Korea's most internationally connected city.
