Icheon Termalland Hot Spring is located in Icheon City, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, just 80 kilometres southeast of Seoul — a city nationally celebrated as the home of Korea's most prestigious ceramic tradition, Icheon Ceramics, whose white porcelain (baekja) and celadon (cheongja) craftsmanship have been recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage and whose annual Icheon Ceramics Festival is one of Korea's most important craft celebrations. The bicarbonate thermal waters of Icheon are among the highest-temperature hot springs in the Gyeonggi region, emerging at around 56°C from the deep Precambrian granite beneath the Gyeonggi Massif, and have been used therapeutically since at least the Joseon Dynasty, when the springs' proximity to Seoul made them the preferred therapeutic destination for the royal court and aristocracy. The combination of Icheon's extraordinary ceramic heritage — where dozens of master potters maintain kilns and studios in the surrounding countryside — and its naturally hot mineral springs offers visitors one of Korea's most civilised cultural-wellness experiences within easy reach of the capital.

Insider tip — Icheon Termalland is a premium hot spring resort in Gyeonggi Province, an hour southeast of Seoul in a city famous for its world-class ceramics and premium rice. The sodium-chloride alkaline waters are prized for their skin-softening qualities and draw weekend crowds from the capital. Large indoor and outdoor bathing complexes with themed Korean herbal pools make this a comprehensive wellness destination. Pair the spa with a visit to Icheon's celadon pottery workshops for a complete cultural and wellness day trip.
