Khuvsgul Lake Hot Springs

Khuvsgul Lake Hot Springs emerge on the shores of Lake Khuvsgul in northern Mongolia, one of Asia's oldest and deepest freshwater lakes, containing three percent of the world's fresh surface water in a pristine sub-Arctic landscape of taiga forest, mountain steppe, and reindeer-herding Tsaatan communities whose nomadic way of life represents one of the world's last remaining caribou pastoralist cultures. The bicarbonate geothermal spring water flows from geological formations in the mountains surrounding the lake, providing warm mineral baths in an environment of extraordinary natural purity where the water is clean enough to drink directly from the lake and the night skies are among the darkest and most star-filled in the Asian continent. Bathing in these springs while watching reindeer move through the taiga at the edge of the lake creates an experience of profound natural immersion available in very few places on earth.
