Avarga Toson is a natural hot spring and saline lake complex in the Khentii Region of eastern Mongolia, near the ancient heartland of the Mongol Empire established by Genghis Khan in this very steppe landscape, where chloride-rich thermal and mineral waters emerge in a flat pastoral landscape of extraordinary historical significance. The springs and associated saline lakes are used for thermal bathing and drinking within the tradition of Mongolian folk culture, which places high value on mineral spring water within a long tradition associated with well-being in the nomadic community.
