Ongongo Waterfall Springs is a remarkable natural site near Warmquelle, 90 kilometres north of Palmwag in the Kunene Region of Namibia, where oligomineral geothermal water tumbles over a 5-metre cliff into a large natural pool in a narrow rocky gorge, creating a stunning natural swimming hole in the heart of one of Namibia's most remote and wild desert regions. The site, operated as a campsite by the local Damara community, is accessible via the dramatic red sandstone landscape of the Palmwag concession — a vast private wildlife conservation area supporting desert-adapted elephant, black rhino, and lion populations alongside the endemic welwitschia plants that can live for over 2,000 years. Swimming in the warm geothermal pool beneath the Ongongo waterfall, surrounded by ancient Namibian desert geology and the sounds of Africa's wilderness, is among the most naturally exhilarating thermal experiences on the continent.
