Badstuene Tromsø

Badstuene Tromso consists of floating sauna barges moored in the harbour of Norway's Arctic city, where the tradition of Nordic bathing culture is supercharged by the extreme seasonal light of the High Arctic, with polar nights in winter and the midnight sun in summer providing an ever-changing backdrop for the ritual of heating and cooling. Tromso lies above the Arctic Circle at 69 degrees north and records around 200 nights of aurora activity per year, so that a post-sauna plunge into the five-degree fjord water can be followed by watching the night sky erupt in curtains of green and violet northern lights. The combination of extreme cold, intense geothermal warming, and one of the most dramatic light shows on Earth has made Tromso's floating saunas a signature wellness destination of the Norwegian Arctic.
