Terme Antica Querciolaia

In Rapolano Terme, amid the Tuscan Crete Senesi countryside, the waters of Antica Querciolaia have drawn visitors since Etruscan and Roman times. The current building, raised in the second half of the 19th century, follows a horseshoe layout designed to embrace and showcase the spring itself — an architectural signature that still sets the site apart today.

Among its notable guests, Giuseppe Garibaldi stayed here in the summer of 1867 to rest after wounds sustained at Aspromonte, later remarking on the immediate relief he felt in his left foot. The sulphur and calcium-bicarbonate waters rise naturally between 30 and 40 degrees, a trait that has shaped the reputation of the whole Rapolano area for centuries.
