Sapporo Aino Sato Onsen, also known as Nagomi, is located in the Ainosato district of Sapporo, on the island of Hokkaido. Its sodium-chloride thermal water emerges at around 40°C. The facility has an indoor bath, an outdoor rotenburo bath and a sauna.
Insider tip — Ainosato (Ainu Village) district in northern Sapporo preserves in its very name the memory of the Ainu people — Hokkaido's indigenous inhabitants whose language, animist traditions, and relationship with the natural world shaped the island's culture for thousands of years before Japanese settlement. The Upopoy National Ainu Museum (opened 2020 at Shiraoi, an hour south) and the Hokkaido Museum in Sapporo are dedicated to Ainu cultural revival. Nagomi (harmony) onsen offers a gentle reflection on the ongoing reconciliation between Japan's mainstream culture and the Ainu heritage it has too long suppressed.
