Tucked into the Elster valley, the Soletherme & Saunawelt belongs to the Sächsische Staatsbäder, a company of the Free State of Saxony that unites the spa towns of Bad Elster and Bad Brambach. Opened in September 2015, it draws on its own brine reservoir: water rich in Glauber's salt, described as a primeval sea sealed off for millennia and untouched by outside influences.

Next door in Bad Brambach, the site is also home to the world's strongest radon spring, used for baths and drinking cures. The Wettinhaus, completed in 2021 within the radon therapy centre, rounds out the complex with a light-and-heat room, a snow grotto and a tepidarium. Split between historic bathing halls and a modern wellness centre, the facility offers massages, baths and treatments for body and mind.

Insider tip — Soletherme Bad Brambach offers concentrated brine (sole) pools renowned for skin and respiratory benefits in a spa-sauna complex near the Czech border. The salt-rich water draws visitors seeking relief from joint and skin conditions. Multiple sauna cabins complement the thermal baths, creating a complete wellness retreat in the Vogtland hills.
