Insider tip — 'Yumeuta' (夢唄 — dream song) at Itsuki Onsen in Itsuki-mura (五木村 — five-tree village), a remote mountain village in the upper Kuma River valley. Itsuki is the birthplace of 'Itsuki no Komoriuta' (五木の子守唄 — Itsuki Lullaby) — one of Japan's most famous and melancholy traditional songs, sung by child workers (komori) who left their impoverished mountain village to nurse wealthy families' children. The song expresses a child's longing for home. 'Dream song' is the perfect name for a hot spring in the village of Japan's most poignant lullaby.
