Just off the Carretera Austral near Puyuhuapi, in Chilean Patagonia, the Termas del Ventisquero trace back to a German settler named Hopperdietzel who first found the springs. It was aviation entrepreneur Ernesto Hein Águila, however, who properly established the site in the 1980s after purchasing the land, before it later passed through other owners amid financial setbacks.

Today four open-air pools welcome visitors, with naturally warm water ranging between roughly 30 and 40 degrees Celsius depending on the pool, set against the fjords and dense forest of the Aysén region. The experience favors simplicity over architecture: direct immersion in nature, rounded out by a small cafeteria serving homemade pastries and a resting area to linger a while.
