Yoro Onsen is located in Yoro, Gifu Prefecture, in central Japan. Its iron-rich water reaches 38°C (pH 6.3), with an indoor bath, outdoor rotenburo and sauna available.
Insider tip — Yoro Onsen sits near the base of the Yoro Mountains in Gifu Prefecture, drawing ferruginous spring water that turns a characteristic amber-brown on contact with air. The high iron content is traditionally valued for treating anaemia and fatigue, and the water has a slight metallic tang. The nearby Yoro Park and its famous Yoro Waterfall, celebrated since the Nara period, make the area a rewarding half-day excursion from Nagoya. The soft surrounding rice paddies and bamboo groves create a deeply rural atmosphere.
