Termas da Curia is a gracious Edwardian spa resort in the village of Curia in the Anadia municipality of Aveiro District, developed in the early 20th century around a calcium and magnesium-sulphured spring whose waters were part of a long thermal tradition associated with well-being. The park-set thermal complex, with its grand hotel, bandstand, casino, and elegant bathing pavilions dating from the 1910s–1930s, preserves the atmosphere of a Portuguese Belle Époque health resort with considerable architectural charm. Curia's heyday coincided with the great age of European thermal tourism when wealthy families would take month-long stays, a tradition the resort continues in adapted form today. The surrounding Bairrada wine region, celebrated for its robust Baga reds and suckling pig cuisine, makes Curia an excellent base for combining thermal bathing with one of Portugal's most characterful gastronomic landscapes.
