Termas de Melgaço

Termas de Melgaço is situated in the Peso hamlet within the northernmost municipality of Portugal, Melgaço, at the far upper reach of the Minho River valley on the Spanish border in a landscape of granite mountains, dense forest, and river valleys forming part of the Peneda-Gerês National Park buffer zone. The bicarbonate and carbonic mineral waters here, classified as naturally carbonated, have been part of a thermal tradition since at least the 18th century and are bottled commercially under the Melgaço brand. The spa complex sits in a particularly beautiful valley setting where the Minho watershed creates a green and well-watered mountain landscape of exceptional tranquility.
